Meeting People in the Program
So you’ve been accepted to the program and are ready to make the big move to Orlando! You’ve read the blogs and watched the vlogs and now you are ready to begin meeting some people who might be starting at the same time as you or maybe you have some questions and want to reach out to fellow CRP's for advice. Maybe you are even a little like me and want to be able to request a roommate so that you have at least one friend when you arrive. Fellow cast members in the CRP program are a great resource and I strongly encourage you to begin building friendships before you arrive. But just how does one meet these people when chances are they are coming from all over Canada?
Your biggest resource will be Facebook. Before I even had the interview I was a part of the “Disney CRP 2016 – Canada” group. This group is a great place to ask questions about the program to people who are already in Orlando and also to just talk and encourage each other while waiting for interviews, wait list emails, etc.
Through this group I was able to meet one person who I hope will be my roommate while we are doing the program. The group has an ongoing document that all members can edit and indicate when they are starting. I scoped out all the people who had the same arrival date as me and at the time there was only one other girl who was arriving on the same day as me. Literally as I was about to send her a message on Facebook, she messaged me! We have since been talking at least once a week, but usually more often, and we even had the opportunity to meet in July (we both live in Ontario, only about 2 hours apart)! I am so thankful that I have had someone to talk to about everything that I am going through during this process, someone to share my excitement about the program and also to share frustrations with.
Another place where you should definitely put yourself out there to meet people is at your interview. All of the people there really love Disney and are just as excited as you are about the opportunity. I met so many people at my interview who were so easy to talk to! I have since reached out to a couple of the people who I met at the interview who are arriving around the same time that I am. It is nice to know that I have a network of connections already before leaving Canada.
